I’m Carter Penley of Penley Research and Development-formerly Penley Sports and I am back designing and manufacturing the high quality leading edge products the Penley brand has forever been known for.
Not only are materials, attention to design and manufacturing processes, our mainstay in the industry, we are also better known for our ability to advance the design curve and performance enhancement of the product. Penley spends a higher ratio of dollars per income on R&D than any other company; always did, always will.
Penley is most famously known for their “MADE IN USA” policy. I do what I do because I like winning and love what I do. Moving off shore just to squeeze every dime out of my customers and fellow local industry competitors does not make me a better designer, a better businessman or my product a better product. As a matter of fact, I believe it promotes just the opposite.

Another facet to good engineering and manufacturing is the art of being more efficient, specifically reducing cost. In aerospace, you are constantly tasked with reducing cost and compressing manufacturing process times. I have applied these cost savings methods to the production of golf shafts and as a practice, I pass my savings to my customers – thus adding to their bottom line and most importantly helping to keep America’s golf club fitters/builders viable, and keeping US dollars in the US.
